INVESTIGATIONS
ON THIS PAGE, WE WILL SHARE WITH YOU OUR EXPERIENCES AT EACH OF THE LOCATIONS WE HAVE VISITED.
THE SKIRRID INN, MONMOUTHSHIRE
The narrow, uneven corridors leading to a twisting wooden staircase takes us to room two of the Skirrid Inn. From the top, we can see to the ground floor below, the only thing obscuring our view is the hangman's noose that sways gently. everyone is compelled to feel the texture of the hemp.
In room two, we snap away and discuss the possibilities of contacting Judge Jeffries - the notorious hanging judge that is said to have once condemned many from his room at the Skirrid.
And the room continues to fill with camera flash. One - two -
Two succesive photographs, taken within seconds of each other, and the second has caused varying degrees of disbelief ever since.
It shows Stuart in the doorway of the bathroom.
Behind the door frame, and clearly in front of Stuart, is something that is yet to be explained.
It shows what appears to be a hooded figure standing between stu and the door. The first photograph taken displayed nothing remotely similar to this.
Some have accused the photographer of digital trickery, others claim it is merely a reflection (the reflection, however, is visible on the wall to the right. The angle discounts their theory). The reason so many have argued against this image is because it falls in the "Too-good-to-be-true" category.
It remains a genuinely unexplained image, taken from within a room reputed to be haunted. Where people have experienced the tightening of a rope around their necks, where many have felt as though they were not alone. Why would it be so unbelievable to capture such an image in a room like that?
Of course, we were lucky. another second and we may have never captured the image at all.
But we did. And it continues to be an image we are proud of and gives us the incentive to continue.

BARNES HOSPITAL, CHESHIRE
A sprawling maze of corridors and stairwells that lead to dark, derelict rooms, Barnes echoes its history in the uncovered brickwork and floorless wards.
We investigated this location on two occasions.
On the first, we heard the sound of shuffling footsteps behind us as we explored the rooms for the first time. It is easy to become disoriented in such a place.
The thin hiss of distant traffic can travel along the corridors and could be mistaken for a whisper, but the sound of footfalls - so near -   are unmistakeable.
But we were there to discover such things and we carried on deeper into the building.
One of the team, our cameraman - new to investigations and a little nervous, waited while the other two took the lead.
And we all heard the sound of shuffling feet behind us again.
Robert called out to invite whatever could be there to communicate with us, just a sound - a tap, anything, just let us know.
We continued into a large corridor.
And within moments, our cameraman felt his head jolt backwards. Not violently, just a tug - the base of his woolen hat pulled backwards.
It wasn't a nail or a hanging wire. There was nothing there that could have caused it.
For our second visit, we were joined by two extra members.
More ground could be covered and we could undertake a full investigation.
We explored the basement rooms, which were alleged to have held the corpses of patients who had died there. The floors were water logged and the basement was cold and damp, not a comfortable place to hold a seance, but we were determined to explore every location.
We heard nothing while we were there, a little disappointing, but it didn't deter us from seeing the remainder of the building. We conducted experiments in every section of the building.
Once again, we heard the sound of shuffling feet, as though we were being followed. On this visit, stones were thrown and there were unexplained noises from the floors above and below.
Once the investigation had been completed, the next step was to go through the countless photographs, video recordings, sound recordings; we would spend however long it took to study every inch and every second.
Stairwell to the basement
There was a sound that did not belong!
As we entered the basement rooms, there was a sound that was different to rest of the audio tracks.
Video evidence shows that the sound was heard briefly in real time but could have been mistaken for almost anything else.
But the sound, when listened to and isolated, sounds to be the voice of someone saying "Go Away" or "Run Away".
Our footage of the Barnes Hospital investigations can be found in the Video Gallery on Ghostnspectors 1 and 2.

ALTON TOWERS CASTLE
The Ghostnspectors were invited to attend an investigation at Alton Towers with Most Haunted's Phil Whyman and Mark Webb from Haunted Homes and Living With The Dead.
The castle is impressive and is suitably dark and damp.
But such conditions do not necassarily mean a place is haunted!
We encountered nothing that could be described as paranormal, but then again, these things can not be predicted.
It was still an enjoyable visit, however, and was definitely worth undertaking.

This image captures a strange mist that occured on a number of occasions. Although there are numerous possible explanations, it still stands alone as something that we can not immediately explain.

STOCKPORT WORKHOUSE
As with any workhouse, there is a grave history surrounding the building.
This, of course, lends any investigation an air of expectation, we were, after all, in a location that once housed children and adults, who had been seperated from each other through their crime of poverty.
The workhouse had been off-limits to all other paranormal groups since a visit by a well known paranormal entertainment tv show. The Ghostnspectors were invited to undertake a serious investigation to find out if indeed the place was haunted.
We based our selves in the adjoining, disused hospital and set out in groups to cover various locations on the complex.
Some investigated the hospital wards, some headed for the workhouse.

The atmosphere was naturally oppressive. Caged doorways led to dormitories that had seen much suffering. We noticed there were cages between the floors of the stairwells, it was explained to us that these were there to prevent children committing suicide.
The upper floors of the workhouse were a maze of dormitories and staff quarters, each room and dormitory had a story behind it. The room pictured on the right is typical of the condition the workhouse is in, yet they maintain a great deal of original features.
During the course of the night, there was the occasional bump here and there, sounds that were attributed to the weather.
In the hospital section, we heard a lavatory door open and close. When we investigated, there was no one in there and everyone in the groups were accounted for.
One of our lead investigators was conducting a walkthrough of the middle floors when he asked all other groups to stop moving. He, and the other members of his team, heard the definite sound of footsteps above him and the sound of a woman's voice. There was no one on the upper floor at that time.
Another group moved to the upper floor and attempted communication.
We asked if there was anyone present, and if so, would they respond with a tap or a noise.
We heard a thump in the adjoining room.
The group followed and we repeated our request. Once again, we heard the same thump as before, this time it had moved again to an adjoining room.
This happened each time we moved towards the sound.
Eventually, we reached the final room on that floor and despite our repeated attempts, we heard nothing else.
We were priviliged to undertake an exclusive vigil at the workhouse and it was thanks entirely to Mark Dutton, who allowed us unrestricted access to the complex.
The Ghostnspectors are grateful to Mark for his kind approval of the visit.

LEEDS INDUSTRIAL MUSEUM, ARMLEY MILLS
We were invited by Norie Miles to conduct an investigation with David Wells, Phil Whyman and Mark Webb at Armley Mills in Leeds.
As investigation leaders, we introduced members of the public to the reality of paranormal investigations.
It is a fact that sometimes, nothing happens! It doesn't get simpler than that.
And when something does, can it be proved to be paranormal?
We introduced members of the public to experiments such as seances, Ouija boards, trigger objects, EVPs, dowsing etc, to demystify the process of "Ghost hunting".
Sometimes, it can be long and arduous but the rewards speak for themselves.
The public event was held for the Diabetic charity and organised by Norie Miles. Andrew Garley was in attendance to provide readings for guests.
The UKPRS were there also as group leaders and the night was a success.
Many people reported activity, including two guests lead by The Ghostnspectors. They reported feeling pain in the side of their head, and this was in the room that housed the looms. It was explained that the machinery, when it was used commercially, would sometimes swing back and hit whoever was nearby - usually children - in the head.
The museum had never been investigated prior to this event and expectations were mixed.   As always, "Ghosthunting" is unpredictable, sometimes disappointing but to those who love it, it is always worthwhile.
Everyone had a great time, and that is always the ultimate measure of success.
